We are currently recruiting a Physician Assistant (PA) - General Surgery/Orthopedics to work at Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune, near Jacksonville, North Carolina. The Physician Assistant (PA) - General Surgery will provide medical care to Active Duty heroes, their family members, and military retirees. The PA - General Surgery / Orthopedics position is full-time, 8 hr shifts, Mon - Fri between the hours of 0700 - 1700. The PA will be required to cover call from 0800 - 1600 one to three days per week, Mon - Fri, excluding nights, weekends, and holidays. The number of call days will be rotated among all PAs on staff, and will cover patients in the emergency department with orthopedic needs that cannot be met by the ED physician.


The Physician Assistant shall provide services within the the limits of their training and the scope of the clinical privileges granted by the medical facility.

Technically direct and provide care for a variety of diseases and types of injuries (i.e., acute, chronic and minor trauma), and the skills to recognize emergency conditions in order to diagnose, prescribe for and treat diseases, disorders and injuries, and refer the more complex cases and serious conditions to qualified medical personnel and perform designated treatment.

Technically direct and teach other staff, provide educational lectures and participate in in-service training to staff members.

Promote preventive care and health maintenance including annual physicals, positive health behaviors and self-care through both formal and individual education and counseling.

Prescribe in accordance with approved treatment protocols and the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee approved medications and immunizations.

Identify a medical problem and determine appropriate action to meet the problem, including referral to a physician.

Perform specific diagnostic and therapeutic practices and procedures in accordance with scope of practice.


Bachelor's degree.

Graduate from an accredited college or university certified by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education of the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA).

Possess certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician’s Assistants (NCCPA).

Minimum 2 years experience within the past three years providing services in an orthopedic setting.

Current, full, active, and unrestricted license issued in any of the 50 States or U.S. territories to practice as a Physician Assistant.

U.S. citizen (required for access to Gov't computer systems).
