Teradata Ecosystem Architect

At Think Big, a key consulting role is the Teradata Ecosystem Architect. As a leader in both pre-sales and project delivery is to gain the respect and confidence of our client. Through the role of trusted advisor, the Teradata Ecosystem Architect ensures that the client optimizes the Teradata deployment within their broader ecosystem to reach their goals of achieving specific and measurable business outcomes.

The Ecosystem Architect is responsible for leading the analytic consulting teams in Jakarta and is responsible for leading client discussions around evolving their analytic ecosystems as part of the sales motions. This includes eliciting high-level business requirements leading to an information, application and system architecture definition taking advantage of our platforms and full portfolio of advanced analytic products and services. This requires a functional understanding of technology choices and their potential to be applied to meet the client objectives, with the ability to differentiate capabilities and lead to choices across the required capabilities.

The architect must lead and participate in conversations at all levels of the organization, from the business units through to the IT department. This requires the ability to react rapidly, whiteboard solutions, challenge constraints and recommend alternative choices backed with solid reasoning. Ecosystem Architects have strong communication and consulting skills. The architect must understand client constraints that may be unavoidable and factor those into plans and offerings. The architect must understand and lead Teradata strategic vision of the Unified Data Architecture, Teradata Analytic Platform, and Sentient Enterprise. The Ecosystem Architect must contribute to and utilize frameworks from Teradata’s Global Architecture Practices.

The Ecosystem Architect is responsible for defining the conceptual and logical architectures as required for responsible clients, along with some solution level architectures, as required. These can be as part of an architecture and planning service, architecture assessment or in the definition of an architecture as part of a bigger project/program. The Ecosystem Architect can question the customer on their current situation, understand the goal state, and develop a defensible architecture specific to each customer.

The Ecosystem Architect has the highest level of consulting and leadership skills. An Ecosystem Architect can lead from the front of the room from C-level to Client Enterprise Architects.

Key Areas of Responsibility

• Be a trusted advisor to the client’s decision makers by establishing credibility and expertise in the technology market and the analytics industry.

• Represent and position Teradata’s offerings including Advanced Analytics, Data Warehouse, Hadoop, Open Source Software, and Cloud Computing within the broader market and customer contexts.

• Define and develop the architecture, roadmap, and standards for the Ecosystem Architecture that will align with the customer business and IT objectives.

• Define and develop the model for integration of all analytic ecosystem components into the client Analytic Ecosystem.

• Define the client architecture at the highest levels of the analytic architecture cube - the Conceptual to Logical Layers.

• Help the client make technology planning and selection decisions and explain the trade-offs that are inherent in their choices.

• Understand the client business goals, information needs, application and system requirements, IT plans, and architectures and articulate linkage to the proposed Ecosystem Architecture and application designs.

• Provide strategic advice to client decision makers on projects they are or should undertake and help consultants from other practices in that planning.

• Provide strategic advice to client decision makers on technologies and solutions that will assist them in achieving their corporate goals and objectives.

• Work with Teradata project managers to scope projects including; costs, project plan, work breakdown structures and risk analysis.

• Provide architecture thought leadership and actively participate in the design and review of projects.

Consulting Skills

• Business Orientation with exposure and knowledge of at least one domain such as financial service or public sector

• Highest level consulting communications and leadership skills.

• Articulate and persuasive - Can present as a "front of the room" leader, and influence decisions; can explain technical and architecture concepts in non-technical terms

• Targets audience appropriately - Transitions between C-level, architects, and implementers at appropriate level for audience

• Innovative - Can lead "Art of the Possible" thinking and vision

• Strategic & Visionary - Leads roadmaps, visions, and defines strategy

• Able to present publicly at conferences, meetups, webinars

• Well-developed written and oral skills.

• Strong communications and presentation skills. Ability to positively present themselves, Think Big and consulting services

Technical Skills

• Technical generalist with design and implementation experience. Has been or is now actively involved in technical consulting engagements.

• Teradata and other competitive options - Demonstrated knowledge of Teradata and other competitive options

• Hadoop and Open Source. Demonstrated knowledge of Hadoop and Open Source options

• On-Premises and Cloud - Can define architectures covering on-premises, cloud, and hybrid of on-premises combined with cloud

• Awareness of differences between waterfall systems development and an agile delivery methodology

• Architecture Framework Expertise or Certification such as TOGAF, Zachman or FEA is a plus

• Identifies and Utilises Design Patterns - Promotes reuse through actions, identifies and develops emerging patterns

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Hands-on experience with relevant technical concepts; able to effectively use them in planning and decision-making with occasional technical guidance

• Possess a high energy level, sense of urgency, decisiveness, and an ability to work well under pressure

• Demonstrate problem solving abilities with the aptitude to identify strategic solutions to business problems with enterprise-wide implications.

• Must be able to communicate fluently in English and Bahasa Indonesia.
