If you want to begin your insurance career, but don't want to work weekends or be in a high pressure cold call sales job, my agency client's customer service training program is for you!

My client has an almost 5 year old insurance agency located in Mukilteo, WA. Due to growth, she is looking for a new Customer Service Account Representative. This is a rare training program that includes hourly wage, vacation, medical benefits, and retirement plan. Most importantly, you will learn the ABC's of insurance policy service so you can help current customers with their daily policy service needs such as adding a vehicle to a policy, or adding a new boat or home.

Hours are Mon to Fri 8:30 to 5 pm. This is an in-office role only. It is a permanent staff position.

How the program works:

If you do not have your P & C license, the agent will pay for your WA state licensing school (40 hours) so that you can test for your license. Once licensed, you will begin a series of online training modules to learn how to work with underwriting, policy administration, quoting, and other computer systems. You will be paid an hourly salary of $15 to $18/hour DOE and there will be a review after you complete training. You will also be able to earn additional bonuses for setting up appointments, gaining referrals from current customers, and adding additional lines of coverage.

Once you have completed the carrier training, here are the daily activities you will be doing during your 8:30 to 5 pm Mon to Fri in-office day:

• Build and maintain customer relationships

• Efficiently problem solve, be pro-active and have the ability to multi-task

• Have knowledge of insurance and ability to learn and grow within the industry

• Understand customer needs and identify products that can assist customers

• Process change requests, binders and certificates of insurance

• Be able to diffuse difficult situations

• Handle special projects as assigned

To be considered for the training program, you need to have worked in an office or similar customer service role for at least one year, and have the following soft skills:

• Strong communication skills both verbal and written

• Basic computer skills in Outlook including Word and Excel and email

• The ability to organize and prioritize

• Attention to detail

• The ability to obtain your Property, Casualty, Life & Health Insurance Licenses (no DUI or Felonies; must pass a background check)

• Flexible and adaptable to change

If you already have your P & C and/or L & D licenses, the agency will consider you for a higher starting wage DOE.

The client would like to hire before the end of March if possible and prefers candidates who have a 30 minute or less commute time to the office. Out of state candidates moving to the area within the next 30 days are also encouraged to apply.
