Create the vision and direction for Quality and EHS

Establish department governance and rules of operation

Creator of Quality and EHS data and metrics integrity and analysis with ability to make recommendations out of the findings

Ensure compliance of all facilities, personnel and shipments with relevant EHS guidelines and regulations, driving for best-in-class performance on recordable, LTI, and other relevant metrics

Determine vendor qualification criteria and specifications for inbound materials (primarily paper), parts and equipment, with the ultimate goal of eliminating inbound inspection through statistically-valid reliance on world-class suppliers (including third-parties, China-based sources, and sister divisions)

With Operations and Engineering, develop and implement a strategy that optimizes cost and reliability of outside vendors, with particular focus on cost/benefit/risk of Asia-based supply chain partners.

Leading the qualification of new paper suppliers, new machine vendors, new parts suppliers to ensure 100% availability of cost-competitive supply

Owner of Non-conforming Material process, participate in defective material review board

Manage and maintain ISO Quality system - Create and update Quality system procedures, work instructions and forms

Direct activities of Quality function personnel

Handle all customer complaints on paper, issue credits if applicable

Responsible for Corrective Action Request system

Responsible for Internal quality audit program

Management Representative with ISO Registrar. Handle the resolution of all findings in North American Sites.

Involved in resolution of major part, sourced machine or paper quality issues

Participate in New Product Introduction process / meetings / product qualification/ design reviews

Participate in ECN meetings

Facilitate / write QA inspection checklists

Handle a variety of requests concerning paper. Examples include: Toxics, PH, Old Growth origin, recycle content, heavy metals, MSDS, etc. Much of this information has to be retrieved from the paper suppliers and needs to be updated regularly

Interface with CSA inspector who stops in quarterly and address issues that arise

Support manufacturing as required resolving quality issues

Responsible for maintaining supplier quality system


Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Engineering

Minimum 10 years experience in Quality assurance

5 years experience in Quality management leading a diverse quality team

Proven experience growing a Quality department and change management

EHS experience including the creation of EHS guidelines and rules of EHS governance for a facility

An experienced understanding of ISO 9001 requirements

Certified Quality Engineer or Certified Quality Manager a plus

Lean and Six Sigma preferred

Bi-lingual in Spanish preferred

Excellent communication skills
