This position is responsible for prioritizing, organizing, assembling, packing, moving, staging, and processing material within the packing department with regard to efficiency, quality, and safety.


- Packs outgoing materials, products, or supplies.

- Counts items shipped and checks against packing lists, recording any discrepancies.

- Assembles and packages various types of materials, finished products (whole or part), and supplies.

- Places products, parts, or merchandise into packages, boxes, crates, or other containers.

- Makes crates or custom packaging for large or bulk products from various materials using power and pneumatic hand tools.

- Uses styro-foam, paper, plastic, or other materials to wrap and pack containers.

- Loads product using rolling carts, hand truck, and/or forklift.

Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy environment by adhering to organizational standards and policies, and legal regulations including Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) and Environmental Protection Act (EPA).


Must be able to walk, step, lift (up to 50 pounds), carry, load, stoop, bend, kneel, reach, stand, push (up to 150 pounds), pull, grip, feel, hear, and see (color) while performing all tasks. Good manual dexterity and hand eye coordination are a must as are the ability to stand and walk for extended periods and extend hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction. The ability to judge distance and space relationships and see objects where and as they are.


- Ability to read and interpret a shipping order and pick list.

- Familiarity with general assembly methods.

- Ability to memorize and recognize parts by number and finish.

- Ability to do simple mathematical calculations.

- Ability to interpret detailed job paperwork and instructions clearly.

- Ability to work cooperatively with others as well as work productively and independently.

- Willingness to cross-train and rotate positions effectively.

- Willingness to work flexible and overtime hours as need.

- Willingness to train and educate others.

- Strong verbal and interpersonal skills.

- Ability to drive a forklift.


- High school education or equivalent.

- Previous packaging and assembly experience required.

- Forklift certifiable.

- Operating knowledge of various hand, air, and power tools.
