Behavior Interventionist - CVSD Intensive Support Team K-8 (ATLAS Program, One-Year, 2026-2027) Needed

Location: Champlain Valley School District

The Champlain Valley School District (CVSD) seeks a full-time, energetic professional to join our district-wide Intensive Support Team (ATLAS) as a Behavior Interventionist for the 2026-2027 school year. This is a one-year, benefits eligible position in order to cover two leaves. Coverage for the first leave runs from September 2026 to December 2026. Coverage for the second leave runs from December 2026 to June 2027. Training will begin in August.

ATLAS is a specialized program serving students with significant social-emotional and behavioral needs. We are looking to add a member to our cohort of highly skilled, caring individuals with specific knowledge and expertise in the area of social-emotional learning & behavior.

The ATLAS Behavior Interventionist will provide 1:1 behavioral support and programming for individual and/or small groups of students with significant needs (including students with severe emotional disabilities). As a member of ATLAS, you will have access to high quality professional learning opportunities through a week-long summer institute and weekly program meetings throughout the school year.

Primary Responsibilities

Direct, adjust or develop elements of student instructional and behavioral plans.

Foster independence so that students can fully participate in school activities.

Collect, maintain, and interpret data.

Assist students physically as required and defined in student plans; this can include restrictive behavior interventions in accordance with established protocols.

Integrate instructional, behavioral and communication interventions into the classroom.

Participate in student team meetings with other professional staff.

Position may include supporting students on the bus to and from school as well as supporting students with personal care.

The Ideal Candidate Will Possess

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

An understanding of Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).

The ability to build relationships and rapport with students and school teams.

A Bachelor’s degree in education or a related discipline (preferred).

A commitment to growth and a desire to gain experience in behavioral programming and therapeutic support within a school setting.
