About the Role

We're looking for an organised and proactive Fleet Controller to coordinate the day-to-day movement of vehicles, drivers, and freight across our transport network. You'll work closely with drivers, warehouse teams, dispatch staff, and customers to ensure deliveries are completed safely, efficiently, and on time while maintaining compliance with New Zealand transport regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Coordinate daily vehicle dispatch, routing, and driver schedules.

Monitor fleet movements to ensure timely deliveries and collections.

Communicate with drivers to provide operational support and schedule updates.

Optimise fleet utilisation and route efficiency to maximise productivity.

Respond to delivery delays, traffic disruptions, and operational issues.

Ensure compliance with New Zealand transport legislation, driver work-time rules, and health and safety requirements.

Coordinate vehicle maintenance, servicing, and repair schedules to minimise downtime.

Maintain accurate fleet, driver, transport, and freight records.

Work closely with warehouse, customer service, and operations teams to meet delivery commitments.

Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), including on-time delivery, fleet utilisation, and operational efficiency.

Prepare operational reports and recommend process improvements.

Support contingency planning and respond to operational incidents as required.

What You'll Bring

Experience in fleet control, transport operations, logistics, dispatch, or supply chain coordination.

Strong understanding of transport scheduling and freight operations.

Knowledge of New Zealand transport legislation, driver compliance, and health and safety requirements.

Excellent organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced operational environment.

Strong customer service and stakeholder management abilities.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and transport management systems.

Preferred Qualifications

Certificate or Diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Transport Management, or a related field.

Experience within the transport, freight, or logistics industry.

Health and Safety training or certification.

Knowledge of GPS fleet tracking and telematics systems.

Experience with continuous improvement initiatives.
