Job Description
The Cable Assembly Technician role supports cable assembly, wire harness assembly, box-build, enclosure assembly. You will assemble cables, wiring, connectors, harnesses, subassemblies, and electromechanical products by following bills of materials, drawings, work instructions, and quality requirements.
Responsibilities
Assemble cables, wire harnesses, connectors, and enclosures.
Cut, strip, crimp, solder, terminate, label, route, and secure wires and cables as required for each build.
Install connectors, terminals, hardware, fasteners, brackets, panels, printed circuit boards, and other mechanical or electrical components into assemblies and enclosures.
Read and follow bills of materials, assembly drawings, wiring diagrams, travelers, process labels, and internal production documentation accurately.
Complete production documentation, tracking records, labels, and process records accurately.
Essential Skills
Previous experience in cable assembly, wire harness assembly, electronics assembly, electromechanical assembly, machine operation, or a similar hands-on manufacturing role.
Experience with wire stripping, crimping, soldering, continuity testing, labeling, harness routing, and connector pinning.
Familiarity with IPC/WHMA-A-620, IPC-A-610, or similar electronics workmanship standards.
Experience with hand soldering, rework, inspection, or basic electronics troubleshooting.
Experience using a variety of hand tools and basic production equipment for cutting, stripping, crimping, and fastening.
Experience with microscopic assembly or robotics.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience repairing or building computers, or wiring cables, either professionally or as a hobby.
Experience in both surface mount (SMT) and through-hole soldering and assembly processes.
Exposure to SMT soldering and SMT assembly in a manufacturing or electronics environment.
Ability to interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and mechanical assembly drawings.
Mechanical assembly experience, including working with brackets, panels, and enclosures.
Ability to adapt to changing production priorities and support multiple product types in a high-mix environment.
Willingness to learn new processes, standards, and tools, and to share knowledge with other team members.

Work Environment
This role is based in a manufacturing environment at a stable, on-site facility in Westerville, OH. You will work primarily on a first-shift schedule, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with potential overtime depending on production needs.
