Job description:
About Educify
Educify is a fast-growing EdTech company on a mission to make quality education accessible, affordable, and personalized for learners everywhere. We connect skilled, passionate educators with students across Canada, the United States, and beyond — and we're expanding our team of online tutors to meet growing demand.
The Opportunity
We're hiring an Online Coding Tutor to teach programming and computer science concepts to students ranging from curious beginners writing their very first line of code to intermediate learners building real-world projects. Whether your strength is Python, JavaScript, HTML/CSS, Java, C++, or web development — if you can write clean code and explain it even cleaner, we want you on our team. This is a rare opportunity to be on the front lines of tech education, helping the next generation of developers, engineers, and problem-solvers find their footing in an increasingly digital world.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver engaging, structured one-on-one and small-group online coding sessions tailored to each student's skill level, language of focus, and learning goals
Teach programming fundamentals — logic, syntax, data structures, algorithms, debugging, and problem-solving — in a clear and approachable way
Guide students through hands-on projects and real coding exercises that reinforce concepts and build portfolio-worthy skills
Break down complex technical concepts into simple, digestible steps appropriate for the student's age and experience level
Use Educify's virtual learning tools alongside coding platforms and environments (e.g. Replit, VS Code, Scratch) to make sessions interactive and practical
Monitor and document each student's coding progress and provide constructive, actionable feedback after every session
Keep lessons current, relevant, and exciting by connecting coding concepts to real-world applications students actually care about
Communicate regularly with parents and guardians on student progress, milestones, and next learning steps
Languages & Topics Covered
Python — Variables, loops, functions, OOP, data structures, automation, beginner data science, and project-based learning
JavaScript — DOM manipulation, ES6+, functions, events, and introductory front-end development
HTML & CSS — Web page structure, styling, responsive design, and beginner web development projects
Java — Object-oriented programming, syntax fundamentals, and problem-solving for beginners through intermediate learners
C / C++ — Programming fundamentals, memory management, and introductory systems programming
Scratch — Visual block-based coding for younger learners (Grade 2–5) building logic and computational thinking
Web Development — Full introductory stack covering HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for students interested in building websites
Computer Science Fundamentals — Algorithms, data structures, pseudocode, and computational thinking for exam prep and academic coursework
Qualifications
Proficiency in one or more programming languages listed above — Python experience is strongly preferred
Previous experience tutoring, teaching, or mentoring coding or computer science in any setting
Ability to explain technical concepts clearly and patiently to students of different ages, backgrounds, and experience levels — from a 10-year-old learning Scratch to a Grade 11 student preparing for a CS exam
Strong problem-solving mindset and the ability to guide students through debugging and critical thinking rather than just giving answers
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field is an asset — but not required with strong practical and teaching experience
Familiarity with beginner-friendly coding platforms such as Replit, Khan Academy, Code.org, or Scratch is a plus
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Reliable high-speed internet connection, laptop, and webcam
