Title: Indoor Student Supervisor (High School)
Position Summary: Wayland Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and nurturing Indoor Student Supervisor to join our team. This role is ideal for an educator who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about supporting the academic, social, and emotional growth of our youngest learners. Under the direction of the WHS administrative team and in collaboration with other student supervisors, the Indoor Campus Supervisor provides support to students and teachers by helping to ensure a supportive, safe, and productive school environment.
Duties and Responsibilities (Not limited to):
Effectively support and supervise students (mostly 9th graders) in Study Hall, Restrictive Study (detention), and Directed Study which can involve small and large groups of students depending on the time of day and the time of the school year;
Build positive relationships with students in these contexts;
Support academic progress in Directed Study by monitoring students identified by the Academic Support Coordinator as needing close attention;
Establish and enforce consistent and caring expectations for students so there is predictability and support in Study Hall;
Communicate concerns about student behavior and academic progress, as well as observed successes, to appropriate colleagues, such as administrators, school counselors, the Academic Support Center team, etc.;
Work with school leadership to combat systemic barriers that limit student, family, and staff members’ equitable access to opportunity;
Any other relative duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
Experience: Previous experience working with high school-aged children is highly preferred.
Cultural Competency: Experience with diverse populations and a strong commitment to Wayland’s goals of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Professionalism: Strong communication skills and the personal characteristics necessary to serve as a positive role model for students.
Education and Experience:
Bachelors preferred, but not required
Training and/or experience in student behavior, restorative practices, and/or deescalation techniques preferred
Commitment to the principles and practices of diversity, equity, belonging, and anti-racism
Work Schedule and Compensation:
Hours: 35 hours/week
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 8:35 a.m. - 3:10 p.m.
Wednesday: 8:35 a.m. - 2:25 p.m.
Salary: Commensurate with WTA Unit B Salary Scale based on level of experience as a non-exempt hourly based employee
Range: $25.63 – $32.29
