Senior Software Engineer
The Senior Software Engineer designs, develops, and supports applications and solutions using Visual Studio,.NET platform and SQL server. Essential functions include developing applications and solutions using C#, SQL or other equivalent programming languages, developing and maintaining solutions using Visual Studio,.NET platform and SQL server, web applications using ASP.NET, JavaScript, HTML, CSS and other web technologies, and web services, micro-services and API integrations using Web API, SOAP, REST, ASP.NET, JavaScript and other technologies. The role also involves integrating web applications and solutions with Microsoft SharePoint and Office 365, designing and developing ETL solutions using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), SQL Server and other languages/tools, writing technical specifications for applications, systems and solutions, creating and maintaining architecture diagrams, design diagrams and data flow diagrams using Microsoft Visio or other equivalent tools, working with internal customers to assess business needs and work with a team to design solutions, supporting and providing maintenance programming for applications using approved technologies, following Project Management Office (PMO) governance processes to execute a project on behalf of a customer/sponsor, leading requirements gathering, analysis and application design for medium and large projects, developing, implementing, and participating in all phases of the software development life cycle (SDLC), establishing best practices to embed information/application security and regulatory requirements in SDLC, maintaining expertise in current technology stacks and best practices to recommend changes that can have positive impact on Northwest, troubleshooting and resolving daily issues with the perspective of minimizing incidents and developing supporting documentation that may be used by Tier 1 support teams, developing and executing plans to install new software and custom changes following Change Management disciplines, working with team to complete project requests, working closely with tier 1 technical support teams and work as part of the tier 2 support team to ensure team is meeting the business expectations, supporting and maintaining applications and solutions using Visual Studio,.NET platform, SQL server, C#, or other equivalent languages/tools, supporting and maintaining web applications using ASP.NET, JavaScript, HTML, CSS and other web technologies, accepting mentorship from lead developers and mentoring Application Developer I and II.
Additional essential functions include ensuring compliance with Northwest's policies and procedures, and Federal/State regulations, navigating Microsoft Office Software, computer applications, and software specific to the department in order to maximize technology tools and gain efficiency, working as part of a team, and working with on-site equipment.
What you bring to the team includes participating in other projects on request, safety and health for those without supervisory duties, abiding by the rules of the safety and loss prevention program, performing work tasks in a safe manner, reporting any and all injuries to supervisor, and knowing what to do in case of an emergency.
Qualifications to perform this job successfully include a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology (Software Development track) or Engineering with a concentration in programming and 6 years relevant work experience, or a Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology (Software Development track) or Engineering with a concentration in programming and 5 years equivalent work experience, or 5 - 6 years application development experience (professional) using Microsoft technology stack (e.g..NET, C#, SQL Server) or equivalent technologies and toolset e.g. Java, Python, Oracle, MySQL, etc., 3 - 5 years developing web applications using ASP.NET, HTML, JavaScript, CSS and other web technologies, 2 - 3 years writing SQL statements for relational database management systems like SQL Server, Oracle, or MySQL.

Additional knowledge, skills and abilities include knowledge of object oriented programming using C#, Java or similar contemporary programming languages, ability to create ETL solutions using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) or other equivalent technologies, knowledge of relational data model, knowledge of developing data warehouses and data marts, knowledge of JavaScript libraries and frameworks, e.g. Angular, React, JQuery, etc., ability to identify critical areas to improve processes to gain productivity and efficiency in multiple spaces, knowledge of working in agile environments. Exposure to Kanban/Scrum framework, knowledge of source code repositories like Microsoft Team Foundation Services (TFS), GitHub, SVN or other equivalent tools, knowledge of Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services or any other cloud ecosystem, skill in incorporating best practices on information/application security into development efforts, ability to work within a team environment and possessing communication skills necessary to lead projects, ability to wear many hats to successfully navigate around technical and business challenges necessary to problem solve.
Licenses and certifications include Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer (MCSD) within 1 year or other relevant certification, such as Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE), Microsoft Certified Solutions Architect within 1 year.
