Software Engineer

About the Role

As a Software Engineer, you will design, develop, and maintain high-quality software that powers Relay's business banking platform. You'll work closely with product managers, designers, and engineers to deliver reliable, secure, and user-friendly solutions while contributing to the continuous improvement of our technology.

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable web applications and backend services.

Build and enhance APIs and microservices that support financial products.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver new features and product enhancements.

Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following engineering best practices.

Optimize application performance, reliability, scalability, and security.

Troubleshoot and resolve software issues in development and production environments.

Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and system design.

Develop automated unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.

Support CI/CD pipelines and cloud-based deployments.

Help ensure applications meet security, privacy, and compliance requirements.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

3+ years of professional software development experience.

Strong knowledge of object-oriented programming, software design principles, and data structures.

Experience building scalable web applications and RESTful APIs.

Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Preferred Skills

Java, Kotlin, Go, Python, or Node.js

React and TypeScript

REST APIs and GraphQL

PostgreSQL and Redis

AWS cloud services

Docker and Kubernetes

Git and CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions or CircleCI

Microservices architecture

Automated testing frameworks

Experience with fintech or payment systems is considered an asset.
