SALARY $80,000-$85,000 plus SUPERANNUATION
Key Duties and Responsibilities of a Chef
• Assist the Head Chef with the day-to-day management of the kitchen.
• Supervise and lead kitchen staff during service.
• Prepare, cook, and present high-quality dishes in accordance with recipes and presentation standards.
• Ensure all food is prepared and served consistently and on time.
• Delegate tasks and monitor staff performance.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety.
• Ensure compliance with HACCP and all relevant food safety regulations.
• Monitor food quality, portion control, and minimise waste.
• Assist with menu planning, recipe development, and seasonal menu changes.
• Manage stock levels, conduct stocktakes, and assist with ordering supplies.
• Step into the Head Chef's role during leave or absence.
• Handle customer dietary requirements and special requests.
• Ensure all opening and closing kitchen procedures are completed.
• Promote a positive, professional, and team-oriented workplace culture.
REQUIRED SKILLS
Qualifications
• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (essential).
• Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery (highly desirable).
• Food Safety Supervisor Certificate (required or willing to obtain).
• Current knowledge of Australian Food Standards Code and food safety legislation.
Experience
• Minimum 3–5 years' experience in a commercial kitchen.
• At least 1–2 years' experience in a senior role such as Chef de Partie or Junior Sous Chef.
