At HCE, permitting is a critical part of how projects move from concept to construction. Our Permitting Team works closely with engineers, project managers, clients, and regulatory agencies to keep projects moving forward efficiently and compliantly.
We're looking for a Permit Coordinator to support all phases of the permitting process—from initial research and agency coordination to permit approvals and final project close-out.
What You'll Do:
Research permitting requirements across local, state, and federal agencies during project planning and proposal phases.
Prepare, assemble, and submit permit applications, supporting documentation, signatures, and permit fees.
Coordinate permitting efforts with Project Engineers, Project Managers, Team Leaders, clients, and regulatory agencies.
Schedule and facilitate pre-application and pre-submittal meetings with permitting agencies.
Track permit status, monitor review timelines, and proactively communicate updates to project teams.
Coordinate responses to agency comments and assist with the preparation of resubmittal packages.
Maintain accurate permit logs, records, and project documentation.
Support proposal preparation and additional service requests related to permitting activities.
Research deeds, plats, easements, plans, and other publicly available records needed to support project development.
Coordinate final permit close-out and certification submissions, ensuring all required documentation is submitted and approvals are obtained.
Build and maintain positive working relationships with permitting agencies and regulatory staff.
What We're Looking For:
Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
4+ years of permitting, land development, civil engineering, planning, or related experience.
Strong understanding of municipal, county, state, and federal permitting processes.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Self-motivated, collaborative, and comfortable working in a deadline-driven environment.
Ability to effectively coordinate with internal teams, clients, and agency representatives.
