Proprietary Trader

The successful candidate will be responsible for executing and managing trades across multiple asset classes using the firm's capital, developing profitable trading strategies, monitoring market trends, managing risk exposure, and optimizing trading performance to drive profitability.

Applicants must possess a minimum of a bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field. Professional certifications such as CFA or FRM are an added advantage. Candidates should also have a minimum of 5 years' experience in proprietary trading or a similar financial markets role.

Monthly Gross Salary: N1,000,000 - N1,100,000

Job Duties and Responsibilities

The Proprietary Trader will be responsible for:

- Executing trades across various asset classes using the firm's capital.

- Developing and implementing trading strategies based on technical and fundamental analysis.

- Monitoring financial markets and adjusting trading strategies based on market conditions and performance.

- Managing risk exposure in line with the organization's risk management framework and guidelines.

- Staying informed on market developments, economic events, and emerging trading technologies.

- Preparing daily, weekly, and monthly trading and performance reports.

- Collaborating with analysts, traders, and risk management teams to identify opportunities and optimize trading outcomes.

- Back-testing trading strategies and enhancing quantitative models to improve profitability and performance.

Educational & Professional Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.

- Professional certifications such as CFA, FRM, or related qualifications are an added advantage.

Experience

- Minimum of 5 years' experience in proprietary trading, capital markets, treasury trading, or a related financial markets role.

Competency Requirements

- Strong knowledge of Nigerian capital market instruments and trading regulations.

- Proficiency in trading platforms such as X-Gen (NGX Trading Engine), Bloomberg, or similar trading systems.

- Strong analytical, quantitative, and data interpretation skills.

- Deep understanding of financial markets, asset classes, trading instruments, and portfolio management principles.

- Excellent risk management and decision-making capabilities.

- Strong attention to detail and ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced trading environment.

- Effective communication and collaboration skills.

- Results-oriented mindset with a focus on profitability and continuous improvement.
