Description:

Major purpose: Responsible for set up, operation and programming of CNC equipment to produce a constant flow of machined parts within specified tolerances.

Major functions: Major Responsibilities:

1. Sets up and operates CNC equipment, specifically a Mazak-controller CNC lathe, utilizing part programs, operation sheets, and blueprints.

2. Ensures parts meet tolerance specifications by spot checking and by routing first article to inspection. Makes necessary machine adjustments.

3. Performs preventive maintenance of CNC equipment and general housekeeping functions.

4. Edits programs as required. Writes programs for new parts.

5. Provides work direction for lower-level personnel.

6. Performs limited, intermittent physical exertion. Works under acceptable conditions with some distraction due to occasional exposure to noise, dust, heat or chemicals.
