Job Description
We are seeking experienced Optical Deployment Technicians to support AWS Red Zone Metro 6500 deployments at AWS Data Centers. The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience with optical networking, fiber troubleshooting, and Ciena 6500 deployment activities. This role requires the ability to work independently in a fast-paced data center environment.
Required Skills
Strong knowledge of Optical Line Systems (OLS).
Hands-on experience with optical fiber troubleshooting.
Ability to read and understand Signal Flow Drawings.
Experience using:
Optical Power Meter
VFL
OTDR and interpreting OTDR results
Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills.
Comfortable learning and working with AWS automation platforms.
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Perform deployment and support activities for AWS Metro 6500 optical network infrastructure.
Work within AWS Red Zone environments while adhering to all operational and safety guidelines.
Read, interpret, and troubleshoot using Signal Flow Drawings.
Diagnose and resolve optical network issues, including:
Optical loss
ORL (Optical Return Loss) / Reflection issues
Power deviations
Fiber mispatching (mis-fibering)
Perform proper fiber cleaning and fiber scope inspections.
Use optical testing tools, including:
Optical Power Meter
Visual Fault Locator (VFL)
OTDR (Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer)
Analyze OTDR traces for troubleshooting and validation.
Utilize AWS automation tools and workflows for deployment and operational activities.
Work independently with minimal supervision while meeting project timelines.
Preferred Skills
Experience with Ciena 6500 commissioning and turn-up activities.
Previous experience supporting AWS Data Center deployments.
