About the Role
Swiss Himmel GmbH is hiring a Senior Network Engineer for a full-time role in Basel, Switzerland. We are looking for an experienced infrastructure professional with strong expertise in enterprise networking, data center technologies, wireless networking, and network automation.
In this role, you will design, implement, and support secure, highly available, and scalable network environments while driving modernization initiatives across campus, wireless, and data center infrastructure. You will work closely with infrastructure, security, cloud, and operations teams to ensure reliable connectivity for business-critical systems.
Key Responsibilities
Enterprise Network Engineering
Design, implement, and maintain secure and scalable campus LAN, wireless, and data center network infrastructure.
Design resilient Layer 2 and Layer 3 network architectures ensuring high availability, redundancy, and business continuity.
Deploy, configure, and administer Cisco ACI, Cisco Catalyst Center, Cisco Catalyst 9800 Wireless LAN Controllers, and Arista CloudVision.
Design, deploy, optimize, and support enterprise wireless networks including RF planning, site surveys, coverage validation, and performance tuning.
Support enterprise firewall environments and security policy implementation.
Network Modernization & Automation
Lead network modernization initiatives including Cisco ACI deployments, Software Defined Networking (SDN), and data center transformation.
Develop network automation solutions using Python, Ansible, and infrastructure automation frameworks.
Support hybrid networking environments integrating on-premises infrastructure with cloud platforms.
Perform lifecycle management, capacity planning, hardware refresh, and End-of-Life (EoL) replacement projects.
Operations & Support
Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize enterprise network performance across campus and data center environments.
Lead root cause analysis and resolution of complex network incidents.
Support network operations for business-critical environments requiring high availability and regulatory compliance.
Manage infrastructure changes following ITIL Incident, Problem, Change, and Release Management processes.
Perform vulnerability assessments, coordinate remediation activities, and implement security hardening measures.
Documentation & Collaboration
Create and maintain network documentation, architecture diagrams, implementation guides, and standard operating procedures.
Work closely with vendors, service providers, and internal technology teams on infrastructure projects.
Support equipment installation, rack and stack activities, structured cabling, hardware replacement, and data center operations.
Required Qualifications
10+ years of experience in Enterprise Network Engineering or Infrastructure Services.
Strong hands-on experience with Cisco enterprise networking technologies including Cisco ACI, Catalyst Center, and Catalyst 9800 Wireless Controllers.
Experience with Arista networking technologies and CloudVision.
Strong knowledge of Layer 2, Layer 3, routing, switching, and enterprise wireless networking.
Experience with Software Defined Networking (SDN) and data center networking.
Hands-on experience with enterprise firewall administration and network security.
Experience with network automation using Python, Ansible, or similar automation tools.
Strong troubleshooting skills across large enterprise network environments.
Experience working with ITIL Incident, Problem, Change, and Release Management processes.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working within pharmaceutical, healthcare, manufacturing, or other regulated industries.
Experience supporting hybrid cloud networking environments.
Cisco certifications such as CCNP Enterprise, CCIE, or equivalent.
Experience with network monitoring, observability, and infrastructure automation platforms.
Knowledge of security compliance, vulnerability management, and network governance frameworks.
