Registered Nurse (RN) in Telemetry
The competent nurse practices independently in a similar clinical setting. They demonstrate awareness of all relevant aspects of a situation. They provide routine and complex care, with the ability to implement long-range goals or plans. They continue to develop the ability to cope with and manage contingencies of clinical nursing. They make appropriate assignments and delegate to other care providers to help manage the clinical situation. Responsibilities include: Meeting expectations of applicable competencies. Consistent with the nursing scope and standards of practice, they provide nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients. They address increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families in accordance with their level of practice. Using appropriate protocols, they administer medications and treatments, monitoring for side effects and effectiveness of prescribed treatments. They document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care given. They assess learning needs and provide education to patients, family members, and/or caregivers, identifying issues and resources.
Position Requirements: All newly hired experienced RNs must attend orientation within the first 30 days of hire. New hires are precepted by a designated trained staff member. Initial on-boarding requirements are validated through successful completion of designated competency validation. All newly licensed RNs may participate in a residency program or other specific orientation. Skills completion and competency validation will be achieved with the preceptor at the bedside and documented. Completion of all annual competency verification requirements is mandatory. One year of experience in a related nursing specialty is preferred.
