Facilities Technician
The Facilities Technician role focuses on operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing all facility systems and equipment. This position requires specialized expertise in Electrical, HVAC, and Plumbing, while maintaining proficiency across multiple technical areas to handle diverse work assignments. The technician is responsible for maintaining equipment for optimal energy efficiency and safety, minimizing downtime through proactive maintenance planning and comprehensive record-keeping. Flexibility in scheduling and openness to additional responsibilities as business needs require is essential.
Responsibilities
Operate and maintain facility systems and equipment.
Troubleshoot and repair electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems.
Master HVAC fundamentals including system components, electrical wiring, and refrigerant handling.
Analyze complex system issues using Building Automation Systems, blueprints, schematics, pressure readings, and airflow measurements.
Execute preventive maintenance programs for HVACR and chiller systems.
Perform systematic troubleshooting techniques to minimize operational downtime.
Maintain electrical systems, including low and medium voltage power distribution and lighting systems.
Install, repair, and maintain plumbing systems and perform preventive maintenance for automatic doors, gates, material handling equipment, fire safety systems, and emergency eyewash stations.
Conduct daily building system start-up procedures, including fire pumps, water heaters, boilers, elevators, and compressors.
Complete miscellaneous facility repairs such as painting and hardware maintenance.
Essential Skills
U.S. Citizenship and valid driver's license
High School diploma or GED equivalent with two years of trades schooling in electrical system design, refrigeration, and HVAC
Certification as a Universal Technician for CFCs
4 years of related work experience in commercial, industrial, or manufacturing environments, especially in maintenance of HVAC, plumbing, or electrical systems
2 years of experience utilizing CMMS, PM software programs, and Building Automation Systems (BAS) with key experience in monitoring and evaluating RTU performance
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Ability to read and interpret work from drawings, written work orders, sketches, blueprints, and technical manuals
Strong communication skills
Advanced troubleshooting abilities in building automation and other complex systems
Ability to perform heavy lifting up to 50 lbs.
Ability to work at an accelerated pace in emergency conditions
Experience in manufacturing or industrial facilities

Job Type & Location: This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Columbus, OH.
Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $44.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
