Job Title
Under general direction, is responsible for managing a specialized section of enhanced communication systems technology; performs related duties as required.
Job Description

Develops programs, maintenance agreements, contracts, and work plans related to the operation and installation of communication systems and technology projects, including radio frequency communication systems, wired and wireless telephone systems, 911 system, in-building cabling and distribution systems, vehicle and apparatus communication systems, internet protocol voice and data systems, closed circuit video systems, and public safety information broadcasting systems;
Supervises technical and specialized communication systems staff to include signing performance appraisals, recommending disciplinary action, and approving/denying leave requests;
Formulates, designs, and coordinates the development of communications technology projects and systems;
Manages and monitors technical goals and objectives of an assigned section;
Makes budgetary recommendations to the Division for an assigned section;
Manages and monitors performance of projects and maintains technical communication systems and infrastructure for the City of Columbus Metro Area;
Identifies the need for and recommends the purchase of items, parts, and supplies used for installations, maintenance and repair work;
Monitors the performance and progress of communications systems and projects to ensure timely completion and conformance to the organization's goals;
Proposes policies, procedures, and standards to be applied toward the design, selection, integration and implementation of citywide communication systems and projects;
Oversees and monitors the physical security of remote locations; coordinates access and entry procedures;
Develops and implements cybersecurity plans, assessments, and response procedures;
Maintains applicable Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) licensure as required;
Oversees City contracts with service providers responsible for assisting the City with design, selection, integration, and implementation of Citywide communication technology projects;
Researches and gathers information regarding the development of current and new technologies;
May oversee the provision of emergency technical support in the event of communication system failures or incidents on a 24/7 basis;
May act as liaison or representative for the Department of Public Safety or Division of Support Services, coordinating in a technical capacity.
Minimum Qualifications
Five (5) years' experience installing, repairing and/or maintaining complex communications systems.
Possession of a valid driver's license.
