This job description is for a Field Electrical Engineer focused on onsite construction support and commissioning at a natural gas compression and power generation facility. The emphasis is on field execution and integration, not electrical system design.

Key Skills Required

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering

8+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience

Hands-on experience with:

Electric Motor Drives (EMDs)

Motor Control Centers (MCCs)

Switchgear

Protective relays

Circuit breakers

Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS)

Transformers and high-voltage power systems

Construction and commissioning support experience

Ability to review RFIs and provide technical guidance to contractors

Strong knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC)

Experience with hazardous area classifications in natural gas, oil & gas, chemical, or industrial facilities

Practical understanding of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and temporary power systems

Project Environment

Natural gas compression and power generation facility

High-voltage electrical infrastructure

Utility and onsite power generation systems

Power distribution involving switchgear, transformers, MCCs, and motor loads

Experience working in energized industrial facilities is highly desirable

Primary Responsibilities

Support installation and commissioning of EMDs, MCCs, switchgear, relays, transformers, and associated equipment

Verify contractor installations for conduit, cable trays, breakers, and related systems

Coordinate with construction, engineering, operations, and commissioning teams

Troubleshoot field issues and assist with startup activities

Ensure compliance with NEC and hazardous-area requirements

Support temporary power systems and safe LOTO sequencing during commissioning

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with compressor stations or similar industrial infrastructure projects

Familiarity with generators, switchgear, MCCs, and protection systems

Experience handling late-stage design changes and accelerated construction schedules

Prior experience serving as an owner's field representative

Performance Expectations

Safe and code-compliant electrical installations

Early identification and resolution of field issues

Accurate management of RFIs, redlines, punch lists, and turnover documentation

Successful integration of temporary power bridges and onsite generation without commissioning risks
