Our New Build business has been supplying nuclear power plant technology for more than six decades, including the most reliable and powerful turbine islands in operation.
Our equipment is designed for a comprehensive range of reactor types and sizes, from very large reactors to SMRs. Our wide range of nuclear turbine island solutions include turbines, pumps, generators and heat exchangers, controls and more. As an expert in turbine island integration, we deliver everything from individual components to full turbine islands on a turnkey basis. Our solutions are suitable for all commercial reactor types, including SMRs, with a unit output ranging from 50 MWe to 1,900 MWe.
As part of our business growth, we are looking for talented Project Contract Managers to lead, manage and coordinate the commercial and contractual aspects of large and complex power plant projects through all phases of design, procurement and construction.
Roles & Responsibilities
When nominated, collaborate with sales and legal on the commercial and contractual aspects of the tendering activities for the allocated project and provide the commercial execution strategy for execution, with a focus on the structure of the contract and its executability,
Establish, own and implement the Project Commercial Execution Plan, the Project Claim and Variation management process and strategy, and project insurances policies and procedures,
Manage the commercial and contractual aspects of the project in execution to achieve the project goals and objectives including timely completion and margin improvement
Work with Project planners / schedulers to ensure that the main project schedule/programme correctly reflects and cross references contract and project terminology and that subcontract schedules/programmes are maintained.
Support the Project team in the management of project costs and cash-flows whether towards customer, consortium partners or sub-contractors and vendors
Establish project specific procurement conditions, and as needed, establish internal/external consortium agreements,
In collaboration with finance obtain and review letter of credits, bonds and other securities and maintain them in accordance with the contract,
In collaboration with Legal team, prepare contractual interpretations, legal parts of settlements and amendments, and obtain legal opinions and involvement of external law firms as needed,
Perform proper risks and opportunities management,
Ensure compliance with obligations and as applicable clarify contractual requirements
Identify, reserve and enforce contractual rights,
Ensure that project filing systems, risk, events and claim registers are established, that contemporaneous records are correctly maintained and that contractual notifications and correspondence is issued correctly and on time.
Develop and maintain commercial relationships with clients, partners and main subcontractors/vendors to ensure smooth operation of project and smooth dispute resolution,
Define and implement most effective notification and claim strategies towards clients, partners, subcontractors, vendors and insurers,
Lead all relevant functions (legal, planning, etc) in the preparation of claims,
Perform negotiations with clients, partners and/or subcontractors, vendors and insurers, securing change orders, as well as claim settlements and final accounts
Where necessary referring project tasks to specialist functions such as contract management, legal, corporate insurance, tax, finance etc.
Guide and/or supervise other commercial professionals working on the Project team as may be required
Support compilation and presentation of project reports to relevant management
As needed, obtain power of attorneys for project stakeholders.
Own the commercial project execution processes and tools such as the project commercial plan and the claims and variation order tool,
Train and apply further measures for the project teams and other relevant parts of the business to apply increased commercial awareness in their roles,
Capture return of experience and best practices on commercial issues,
Provide experience feedback to other projects and functions.
Autonomy/Authority:
Guide the Project team on all commercial project matters,
Propose Project Commercial Execution Plan and Project Variation/Claim/Insurance Strategy,
Provide notices to Customers, Consortium Partners and Insurances in consultation with Project Director,
Negotiate and settle Variation Orders and Claims in accordance with the delegation of authority.
Profile
High degree in Engineering, Economics, Law or Business Administration,
10 years of experience in the energy industry with at least 5 years of experience in one of the following activities: contract management, project management or legal for large/complex projects,
Good commercial knowledge covering multiple disciplines
Excellent track record and skills in conducting commercial negotiations also at higher management level,
Good knowledge of project contracts and contract law,
Good knowledge of claims management,
Solid understanding of relevant technical, planning and financial principles,
Solid understanding of project risk management,
Ability to demonstrate good people leadership, influencing and management skills
Excellent communication and analytical skills,
Insightful, able to collaborate with other business team members in developing strategies and implementing business plans,
Strong in building relationships with clients, suppliers and contractors,
Accomplished computer skills particularly in utilizing MS-Windows and Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint),
Fluency in written and spoken English and working knowledge of at least one other language.
