Process Engineer
Manufacturer is seeking a Process Engineer to work in their manufacturing process engineering team. The Process Engineer will be responsible for overseeing an assigned area related to best practices, KPI improvement, plan execution and new technology industrialization. This position will report to the Production Manager and will take daily direction from the Technical Manager. Responsibilities will include:
Developing and improving line layouts and making line modifications
Sharing and evaluating best practice with sister locations
Supporting the company's best manufacturing initiatives as a team and by partnering with other sites
Assisting with new model activities and capital equipment projects
Monitoring and analysis of production numbers and KPIs by utilizing the company's SCADA system
Identifying continuous improvement projects, overseeing 6-8 CI projects at a time, including managing project timelines
Completing the assigned area's capability and capacity analysis on a bi-annual basis
Training associates on proper quality, production and engineering procedures
Conceptualizing and designing fixtures and gauges in 2D and 3D software
Spending up to 50% of your time on the manufacturing floor, focused on engineering efforts
Other engineering tasks as assigned
This is a hands-on position that requires qualified candidates to be on the manufacturing floor up to 50% of their day. Candidates should be able to manage their own projects, be flexible with their work requirements, have good written and verbal communication and enjoy working within a team of engineers. Individuals should have excellent floor communication skills and be able to effectively communicate with front line associates. Depending on projects, this position does require candidates to work up to one Saturday every 4-6 weeks.
Requirements for the Process Engineer:
A Bachelor's degree is required; preferred majors include mechanical engineering, mechanical engineering technologies, industrial technologies or manufacturing technologies
At least two years in a similar process engineering position
Experience performing engineering functions in manufacturing environments
Experience focused on continuous improvement initiatives, including scrap reduction, efficiency improvement, elimination of downtime, etc.
Project management skills
Basic 2D and 3D modeling
Microsoft Office, specifically Excel
Skills preferred but NOT required:
Automotive manufacturing work experience
Capital equipment projects
Exposure to Lean and/or Six Sigma methodologies
New model launch
Strong data analysis skills
