Traveling OSP Construction Manager â FTTH & Long-Haul Fiber Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced OSP Construction Manager to oversee Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) and long-haul fiber optic construction projects throughout the United States. This position requires a hands-on construction professional with strong field management experience in underground and aerial fiber deployments.

The ideal candidate will have 7-10 years of OSP construction management experience and possess a thorough understanding of fiber network construction, contractor oversight, project scheduling, customer interaction, and field operations. This is a travel-intensive role requiring extended field assignments, typically four consecutive weeks in the field followed by one week working remotely from home.

Experience operating around OSP construction equipment such as directional drill rigs, plows, trenchers, and aerial construction equipment is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

Manage all phases of assigned FTTH and long-haul fiber construction projects from mobilization through closeout.

Coordinate project schedules, resources, subcontractors, and field activities to ensure successful project execution.

Serve as the primary customer-facing representative for construction-related activities.

Monitor project milestones, budgets, schedules, and deliverables to ensure client expectations are met.

Maintain accurate project documentation, reporting, construction records, and status updates.

Conduct regular field visits including:

Bid walks

Pre-construction meetings

Progress inspections

Quality assurance reviews

Punch walks

Final construction closeouts

Provide field direction and oversight to contractors performing underground and aerial fiber construction activities.

Identify construction challenges and develop practical solutions to maintain project schedules and budgets.

Ensure all work is completed in accordance with customer standards, engineering designs, permitting requirements, and safety regulations.

Review and approve contractor production, material usage, and project documentation.

Support subcontractor invoice review and approval processes.

Assist with customer billing and project financial tracking.

Lead weekly project meetings with customers, internal teams, and subcontractors.

Monitor quality control and ensure construction standards are consistently achieved.

Ensure timely completion and distribution of project closeout packages and documentation. Required Qualifications

7-10 years of OSP construction management experience supporting telecommunications infrastructure projects.

Experience managing Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH), middle-mile, backbone, or long-haul fiber construction projects.

Strong knowledge of underground fiber construction methods including directional boring, plowing, trenching, and conduit placement.

Experience overseeing aerial fiber construction on utility pole infrastructure.

Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, fiber route maps, permits, and engineering packages.

Experience managing contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel.

Strong customer-facing communication and project management skills.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and project reporting tools.

Ability to travel extensively and work independently in field environments. Preferred Qualifications

Commercial Driver's License (CDL) preferred upon hire.

Candidates without a CDL must be willing and able to obtain a CDL within the first 90 days of employment.

Experience working with directional drill crews and underground construction equipment.

Familiarity with utility coordination, permitting, restoration, and traffic control requirements.

OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred.

Experience supporting large-scale broadband, rural fiber, or FTTH infrastructure projects. Travel Requirements

Travel required: 75%â 80% nationwide.

Typical work rotation consists of four (4) weeks in the field followed by one (1) week working remotely from home.

Candidates should be comfortable staying away from home for up to 30 consecutive days.

Valid driver's license required. Physical Requirements

Work is performed primarily in active outdoor construction environments.

Ability to walk construction sites, traverse uneven terrain, and inspect work in various weather conditions.

Regular use of hands and fingers to operate tools, equipment, computers, and mobile devices.

Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, talking, and hearing.

Exposure to varying weather conditions, construction noise, dust, and outdoor elements.
