Entry Level / Junior Electrical Controls Engineer
M-Team Solutions is seeking an Entry Level / Junior Electrical Controls Engineer to support the design, development, and commissioning of automated material handling and conveyor systems. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career engineer looking to grow within industrial automation, controls engineering, and material handling systems. This is a direct hire opportunity with our customer in the Columbus, OH area.
The ideal candidate will have a strong technical foundation, a willingness to learn, and an interest in PLC programming, HMI development, and industrial electrical systems.
Responsibilities
Assist with the design and detailing of electrical control systems for automated material handling equipment
Create and modify:
Wiring diagrams
Control panel layouts
Electrical device layouts
Support PLC programming and troubleshooting for conveyor and automation systems
Assist with HMI screen development and operator interface design
Perform calculations related to:
Control panel power distribution
Conveyor cycle times
Safe distance validation
Support commissioning activities for PLC logic and HMI systems in both shop and field environments
Assist electricians and installation teams with troubleshooting field wiring issues
Communicate with customers, vendors, and internal engineering teams
Participate in system testing, debugging, and startup activities
Support engineering documentation and project coordination efforts
Qualifications
0–3 years of experience in Electrical Engineering or Controls Design
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering preferred
Familiarity with AutoCAD 2D required
AutoCAD 3D or similar software experience is a plus
Exposure to industrial control systems and automation equipment
Basic PLC programming knowledge preferred, including platforms such as:
Allen Bradley ControlLogix
Siemens
Mitsubishi
Omron
GE
Exposure to HMI development platforms such as:
PanelView
GE
PROFACE
Understanding of industrial electrical systems and troubleshooting
Familiarity with NEC, NFPA 79, UL 508A, OSHA, and ANSI standards is a plus
Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced engineering environment
Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn
Additional Requirements
Ability to travel to project sites as needed, including Canada and Mexico
Must be available for overtime, weekends, nights, and holidays when required by project schedules
Must be physically capable of climbing ladders/scaffolding and standing or walking for extended periods
