ESL Instructor

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced ESL Instructor to teach advanced adult learners in Intermediate ESL and TOEFL Preparation.

Description: The prospective instructor will deliver curriculum in interactive ways; prepare effective lesson plans; meet curricular objectives; assess students and report on progress. Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:

· Facilitate the development of students’ listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills

· Build students’ knowledge and accurate use of grammar, syntax, vocabulary, pronunciation, idioms, and collocations

· Create lesson plans for active and relevant student-centered work

· Participate in regular professional development workshops and faculty meetings

· Prepare student progress reports and maintain accurate attendance records and records of assignments and assessments

· Assist with placement testing and student assessments (when needed)

· Work with fellow faculty members on lesson planning and events

Minimum Qualifications: B.A. degree and a TESOL, TEFL, CELTA or other certificate that demonstrates the attainment of a knowledge base in TESOL theories, methods, and practices. New York instructors must either possess or be willing to apply for a New York State Licensed Private Career School Teacher Certificate/License in the certification area of English for Speakers of Other Languages (BPSS), and experience teaching academic English and TOEFL.

*Application costs for Private Career School Teacher Certificate/License will be covered by CAMPUS Education.

Salary: $25-27 per hour of classroom teaching
