Ledyard Public Schools is looking to hire a dependable and skilled custodian. The ability to follow written and oral instructions while relating to students, staff and public in a courteous manner is required and experience with building cleaning, routine maintenance and groundskeeping is preferred.
The position requirements include:
Knowledge and demonstrated skills related to daily cleaning and building maintenance; including but not limited to operation of floor and restroom cleaning machines, waxing and stripping of floors and general cleaning and disinfecting
Previous experience in custodial routines and procedures preferred
Grounds keeping experience a plus
Good interpersonal relationship skills
Demonstrated record of reliable performance and attendance
Ability to lift and carry objects of 25 - 50 lbs
Hours Monday/Tuesday through Friday/Saturday, may include nights
Pay and benefits in accordance with Ledyard BOE and Local 1303 of Council #4 AFSCME, AFL-CIO agreement.
Pay: $22.65 per hour

Physical Requirements of the Job:
Frequent walking, bending, twisting and lifting and/or moving up to 50 lbs. such as cleaning supplies, pails and unloading trucks
Continuous use of hand strength to grasp tools and cleaning equipment and climb on ladders
Push/pull items such as tables, stacked chairs, bleachers, and/or cleaning equipment
Fingerprinting / background check is a condition of employment, and at the applicant's expense.
