Controller (Fully Remote – SaaS/Tech)

Location: Remote (U.S.-based)

Employment Type: Full-Time

Compensation: $150,000–$180,000 base + performance bonus + stock options

Position Overview

We are seeking a strategic and hands-on Controller to lead core accounting operations within a high-growth SaaS/technology environment. This fully remote role is ideal for a finance leader with strong private equity (PE) exposure and demonstrated experience supporting mergers and acquisitions (M&A). The Controller will partner closely with executive leadership to drive financial accuracy, scalability, and readiness for continued investment and growth.

Key Responsibilities

Own and lead all accounting operations, including general ledger, financial close, and reporting

Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes with a focus on accuracy and timeliness

Prepare and review GAAP-compliant financial statements

Establish and enhance internal controls, policies, and scalable accounting processes

Partner cross-functionally with FP&A and leadership on budgeting, forecasting, and strategic decisions

Support M&A lifecycle activities including due diligence, acquisition accounting, and post-close integration

Collaborate with private equity stakeholders and deliver investor-level reporting

Oversee external audits, tax coordination, and regulatory compliance

Drive ERP optimization and automation initiatives

Build, mentor, and scale the accounting team

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA strongly preferred

8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership roles

Prior experience within a SaaS or technology company (required)

Strong background in private equity-backed environments

Hands-on M&A experience (due diligence, integration, or purchase accounting)

Deep knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards

Experience with modern ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite)

Strong analytical mindset with excellent communication and leadership abilities

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment

Willingness and ability to work Eastern Time Zone (EST) hours

Preferred Experience

Experience scaling accounting functions in a startup or high-growth setting

Expertise in SaaS revenue recognition (ASC 606)

Exposure to exit readiness (PE recap, IPO, or strategic sale)
