About the Role

This role leads plant quality, food safety, laboratory, sanitation, and regulatory compliance programs while partnering with operations to drive continuous improvement, audit readiness, product quality, and customer satisfaction in a food manufacturing environment.

Job Responsibilities

Lead plant quality assurance, food safety, laboratory, sanitation, and regulatory compliance programs

Maintain compliance with company policies and local, state, and federal food safety regulations

Ensure audit readiness and support customer, regulatory, and third-party audits

Manage food safety, quality, environmental monitoring, pest control, and change control programs

Lead investigations of non-conformances, customer complaints, and food safety incidents, driving root cause analysis and corrective actions

Oversee hold and release programs, product disposition decisions, and quality documentation reviews

Track, analyze, and report plant quality KPIs and identify trends for continuous improvement

Partner with operations to ensure compliance with specifications, manufacturing instructions, and preventive maintenance programs

Support capital projects, budgeting activities, and quality improvement initiatives

Provide food safety, FSMA, GMP, and regulatory compliance training to plant personnel

Serve as the primary contact for customer quality issues, complaints, and inquiries

Manage laboratory testing programs, analytical activities, and external lab coordination

Oversee environmental monitoring programs and ensure corrective actions are implemented when needed

Maintain and improve quality management systems, SSOPs, work instructions, and controlled documents

Collaborate with R&D on new product launches and reformulations to ensure compliance with specifications and regulatory requirements

Lead, coach, mentor, and develop quality team members while conducting performance management activities

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Biological Sciences, or a related field; equivalent experience considered

5+ years of quality assurance experience within food, beverage, dairy, or related manufacturing environments

Leadership or supervisory experience within quality, food safety, or laboratory operations

Strong knowledge of GMPs, food safety systems, quality management systems, and regulatory compliance requirements

Experience with root cause analysis, CAPA programs, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives

PCQI, HACCP, and/or SQF Practitioner certifications preferred

Strong analytical, communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and quality reporting systems

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment

Ability to travel up to 15% as needed
