Saint Anselm College, a liberal arts college in the Benedictine tradition, is seeking an Assistant Director for Academic Support Services in the Academic Resource Center. This position reports to the Assistant Dean for Academic Support Services and has primary responsibility for a vibrant peer tutoring program. Successful candidates will be able to assist the College in advancing its mission and strategic priorities, which include creating and sustaining an environment where every member of the community feels valued and welcomed. This is a full-time, 11-month position.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

Manage the day-to-day administration of the Peer Tutoring Program in the ARC: advertising the service, hiring and supervising tutors, maintaining tutor schedules, connecting students with tutors, and assessing effectiveness of the program

Troubleshooting situations that arise in the course of tutoring

Coordinate peer-led study groups; train and mentor study group leaders, engage faculty in study group planning, ensure that study groups are effectively marketed, reserve rooms, track attendance, and monitor effectiveness of the program

In collaboration with Assistant Dean and Academic and Study Abroad Support Coordinator, mentor peer tutors and writing consultants and offer trainings and workshops focused on pedagogy and leadership

Evaluate program effectiveness through attendance tracking, participant feedback, and assessment tools; analyze outcomes to inform continuous improvement of future programming.

Assist in proctoring students with testing accommodations

Work one-on-one with students seeking professional academic coaching

Collaborate with ARC staff to support programs and events, in particular programs for first-year students including summer online College 101 course and enrichment hours for First Year Experience courses

Contribute to a welcoming and accessible environment for all students coming into the ARC

Desired Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in relevant field, master’s preferred

At least 1-2 years of experience in an academic support setting, serving the needs of college students

Strong communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively

Ability to self-start and complete duties efficiently and effectively

Ability to problem-solve and think sequentially in a fast-paced environment

Ability to work some evenings and weekends with advance notice

Reliability, confidentiality, and high integrity

Familiarity with Google, Microsoft, Zoom, and other similar technology applications

Familiarity with a four-year residential college setting and commitment to the mission of a Catholic, liberal arts institution

Successful candidates will be able to assist the college in advancing its Catholic identity and strategic priorities, which include institution-wide diversity and inclusiveness.
