JOB TITLE: Manufacturing Engineer

REPORTS TO: Manufacturing Manager

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

SUMMARY: Plans, directs, and coordinates manufacturing processes, develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards to drive continuous improvements throughout all plant operations. Writes & prepares CNC programming & assists the machine shop in troubleshooting program issues.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Ensuring that strong and efficient teamwork culture exists within the production team.

Implementing project schedules and plans in a timely effective manner.

Take personal initiative and direct various procedures to increase final outcome of the

organization.

Develop, evaluate, improve and document manufacturing processes.

Develop and implement process control techniques and procedures into manufacturing

environments.

Analyzing manufacturing process flows continually for the enhancements of quality,

cost reduction, and throughput.

Collaborate with design engineering regarding product launches, tooling and design to

ensure effective production methods.

Confer with vendors in determining product specifications and arranging equipment,

parts, material purchases, and evaluating products according to quality standards

and specifications.

Estimate staffing requirements, production times, and relative costs to provide data for

operational decisions.

Working closely with manufacturing department to develop, coordinate, and implement

technical training for employees.

Design and develop manufacturing processes for enhancements, product changes,

new products, related fixtures and tooling that are consistent with achieving zero

defects and low product cost.

Manage & implement capital appropriation projects to meet target completions dates

& financial commitments.

Provide engineering support in production department to trouble shoot and resolve

technical problems.

Coordinate work with tool engineering personnel, assigned technicians, and outside

vendors.

Supporting company policies and procedures, goals and objectives, EPA / OSHA

regulations, and good manufacturing practices.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The job of a manufacturing engineer is a highly qualified position, to plan, design, arrange, change, optimize, and supervise a manufacturing process. Manufacturing engineer must be creative and analytical thinkers as well as designers. Main responsibility is to create, document, develop, and implement procedures required to assemble, test, process, and manufacture the products of the company in the most productive manner available. Experience with multi-axis turning centers.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial or Electrical engineering from an accredited institution or an Associates degree with 2-5 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Requires hands-on experience utilizing Lean Manufacturing Techniques. Must possess good interpersonal skills and be a Team Player. Requires hands-on experience utilizing ‘G’ code and Mazatrol languages to develop, setup and troubleshoot CNC programs. Must know MasterCam.

DFMEA’s, Control Plans, Process Flows, Value Stream Mapping, CAPA’s, etc.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILIITIES: Good organization and planning skills and Project and Time Management skills are required. Must be able to handle multiple assignments simultaneously. Must be objective, persistent and "Think Out-Of-The-Box”. Must be passionate about learning and utilizing the latest developments of TQM and Lean systems.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands or fingers, handle or feel objects, tools or controls and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near mechanical/electrical equipment and parts.
