CONSTRUCTION MANAGER – ELECTRIC UTILITY

San Antonio, Texas

JOB TYPE: Direct Hire

SALARY: Very Competitive (dependent on experience)

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Looking for a Construction Manager with electric cooperative and RUS experience in both rural and urban areas. This position requires weekly travel and hotel stays 3 to 4 times a week. Must be comfortable and adaptable to long days and changeable outdoor working conditions. Must possess and maintain a valid Texas driver’s license and be insurable through the company’s vehicle insurance provider. Work environment is fast paced and requires a strong work ethic and the ability to place emphasis on detail, accuracy and technical quality. Must possess leadership qualities and natural ability to interact and get along well with others.

REQUIREMENTS:

Must have Electrical Utility background in (Electrical Co-Op preferred)

Must have RUS experience in both rural and urban areas

Must have experience in web-based mapping systems such as ArcGIS

Must have excellent negotiation and conflict management skills.

Must have experience working with dispatch, SCADA and control center operations in an electric utility

Experience in taking delivery and setting of self-supported steel and concrete distribution poles.

Working knowledge and experience in overhead construction practices.

Experience working on large overhead distribution system improvement projects including rebuilds and voltage conversions.

Experience with communication cable transfers on electric utility distribution poles.

Working knowledge of NESC and NEC.

Working knowledge of city, county and state utility codes and permitting processes.

Experience simultaneously working multiple project sites over a large geographical area.

Experience with Texas 811 location process.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

MUST BE WILLING TO:

Learn utility GIS mapping software packages based on self-paced study and on the job training.

Teach the utility GIS mapping software to construction crew personnel in a one-on-one training setting.

Learn to develop computerized spreadsheets.

Learn to record, process and distribute construction and inspection reports electronically.

Learn to maintain web-based mapping systems such as ArcGIS.

Meet physical demands of the job including working extended hours in outdoor weather conditions.

Traverse uneven terrain on foot.

Local to area preferred but not required

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for managing contracted construction crews (not supervising construction, but managing the process)

Daily reporting, scheduling and project tracking

Provide contractor feedback, monitor productivity and ensure construction per utility specification and guidelines

Oversee material reconciliation process between contract crews and utility warehouses

Address any utility customer complaints and concerns; conflict resolution

Inspect completed project to ensure construction done per utility specifications and guidelines

Manage schedules and budgets

Job is largely performed in the field working out of company vehicle at job sites. Will involve work at client offices in an office setting.

Attend meetings representing employer and Client.

Participate in weekly and monthly Client coordination meetings
