Seeking a Process Engineer III to support refinery operations, improve process performance, and contribute to capital project development. This role works closely with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, and Process Safety teams to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable refinery performance.

Reporting to the Process Engineering Supervisor, this position supports the Operations Superintendent in monitoring product specifications and optimizing refinery units. The role includes small capital project design and development, operational troubleshooting, process optimization, and support of Process Safety Management (PSM) activities. The engineer will collaborate with internal teams, vendors, and consultants to improve performance, reliability, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Provide technical support to assigned refinery process units

Perform daily monitoring, troubleshooting, and process optimization

Design and develop small capital improvement projects

Work with drafting and engineering teams to ensure proper equipment design and sizing

Support catalyst and chemical evaluations, vendor communications, and bidding processes

Assist with unit startups, shutdowns, and turnaround activities (including extended shifts as needed)

Track and analyze operational performance data

Support control system improvements (TDC/APC)

Collect and provide operational and lab data for project engineering and vendors

Research emerging technologies to improve refinery strategies

Participate in incident investigations

Support PSM activities including Management of Change (MOC) and Process Hazard Analyses (PHA)

Maintain clear communication with supervisors regarding progress and issues

Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Petroleum Engineering

Chemical Engineering degree preferred

Experience Requirements

Minimum 2 years of relevant engineering experience

Refinery or oil industry internship experience preferred

Knowledge of economic principles and project management

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel

Familiarity with process modeling software preferred

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills

Ability to work effectively in team environments and lead when needed

Comfortable working in a manufacturing/industrial setting

Ability to adapt to changing priorities and schedules

Fluent in English (written and verbal)
