Summary

We are seeking skilled and safety-conscious Production Worker(s) to join our team. This Role involves crafting, assembling, and finishing wood products using hand tools, power tools, and woodworking machinery. The ideal candidate has a strong attention to detail, a passion for craftsmanship, and a commitment to maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

Responsibilities

1. Punctual and maintain good attendance.

2. Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, or work orders

3. Select appropriate wood types and materials based on project specifications

4. Operation of woodworking machinery (e.g., saws, sanders, drills, CNC routers)

5. Cut, shape, and assemble wood components with precision

6. Apply adhesives, fasteners, and finishes such as stains or lacquers

7. Inspect products for defects and ensure quality standards are met

8. Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety protocols

9. Collaborate with team members to meet production deadlines

Qualifications

1. High School Diploma or equivalent

2. Prior experience in woodworking or carpentry preferred but not required.

3. Familiarity with woodworking tools and machinery.

4. Ability to read technical drawings and use measuring tools accurately. Accurate Tape Measure Reading is needed.

5. Strong manual dexterity and physical stamina.

6. Knowledge of wood types, finishes, and adhesives.

7. Commitment to safety and quality control.

Work Environment

Requires use of PPE (e.g., safety glasses, ear protection, dust masks) Workshop or factory setting with exposure to wood dust, noise, and machinery. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

• Verify dimensions or check the quality or fit of pieces to ensure adherence to specifications.

• Produce or assemble components of articles, such as store fixtures, office equipment, cabinets, or high-grade furniture.

• Measure and mark dimensions of parts on paper or lumber stock prior to cutting, following blueprints, to ensure a tight fit and quality product.

• Set up or operate machines, including power saws, jointers, mortisers, tenoners, molders, or shapers, to cut, mold, or shape woodstock or wood substitutes.

• Establish the specifications of articles to be constructed or repaired, or plan the methods or operations for shaping or assembling parts, based on blueprints, drawings, diagrams, or oral or written instructions.

• Attach parts or subassemblies together to form completed units, using glue, dowels, nails, screws, or clamps.

• Reinforce joints with nails or other fasteners to prepare articles for finishing.

• Install hardware, such as hinges, handles, catches, or drawer pulls, using hand tools.

• Trim, sand, or scrape surfaces or joints to prepare articles for finishing.

• Match materials for color, grain, or texture, giving attention to knots or other features of the wood.

• Cut timber to the right size, and shape and trim parts of joints to ensure a snug fit, using hand tools, such as planes, chisels, or wood files.

• Perform final touch-ups with sandpaper or steel wool.

• Bore holes for insertion of screws or dowels, by hand or using boring machines.

• Repair or alter wooden furniture, cabinetry, fixtures, paneling, or other pieces.

• Estimate the amounts, types, or costs of needed materials.

• Dip, brush, or spray assembled articles with protective or decorative finishes, such as stain, varnish, paint, or lacquer.

• Program computers to operate machinery.

• Apply Masonite, formica, or vinyl surfacing materials.

• Design furniture, using computer-aided drawing programs.

• Draw up detailed specifications and discuss projects with customers.
