Scriptwriter Support Roles

80,000 Hours is a nonprofit that helps people find careers tackling the world's most pressing problems. Our video team produces AI in Context, a YouTube channel that makes long-form, documentary-style videos helping people understand transformative AI, its implications, and the risks, including existential risks. Past videos include "We're Not Ready for Superintelligence" (10M+ views) and "If You Remember One AI Disaster, Make It This One" (3M+ views).

We're hiring for several roles to support our scriptwriter and host, Aric Floyd. These roles have overlapping skill sets, so we're running a unified hiring round. If you're not sure exactly which role fits you best, or you think you'd be a good fit for more than one, feel free to select multiple.

Roles we're hiring for:

Operational Partner to Aric Floyd (full-time) - A right-hand person who can speed up Aric's writing, handle high-stakes communications, manage priorities, and build systems. Bay Area, in-office.

Pair Writer / Writing Support to Aric Floyd (contract) - Work closely with Aric on scripting for AI in Context. Help with research, drafting, and iterating on scripts about AI safety and transformative AI for a general audience. Bay Area preferred, open to remote.

Executive Assistant to Aric Floyd (contract, ~10-15 hrs/week) - Handle scheduling, email, small research projects, copywriting and other administrative tasks. Bay Area preferred, open to remote.
