Senior Video Editor #22300

Position Type: Direct Hire / Full-Time

Location: Richmond, VA (Onsite – Local Candidates Only)

About the Role

We are seeking a creative and technically skilled Senior Video Editor who loves compelling storytelling and pushing creative boundaries. In this role, you will collaborate with the post-production team to weave together footage, dialogue, music, sound effects, and motion graphics into impactful visual narratives for a diverse range of clients and organizations.

This position requires an equal balance of storytelling instinct and technical craft. We need someone who cares as much about the narrative arc as the visual polish—someone who obsesses over pacing, understands the impact of a single frame, and prioritizes how a piece feels just as much as how it looks. Your ultimate goal is to deliver memorable, visually stunning, and highly shareable content.

Core Responsibilities

Editing & Post-Production: Ingest, organize, and edit raw footage into high-quality, cohesive, narrative-driven videos.

Motion Graphics: Design and seamlessly integrate motion graphics, titles, and animations.

Finishing: Execute high-level sound design, audio mixing, color correction, and final project mastering.

Project & Time Management: Manage multiple concurrent projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment while meeting strict deadlines.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Communicate regularly with internal teams to assess project scopes, anticipate challenges, and ensure timely delivery.

Deliverables: Prepare final assets tailored to exact platform, client, or broadcast specifications.

Process Improvement: Continuously find ways to refine internal post-production workflows to boost efficiency and content quality.

Team Leadership: Facilitate daily department meetings to keep the post-production team aligned, foster collaboration, and clarify tasks.

Resourcing: Partner closely with project coordinators to provide clear visibility into team capacity, helping guide resourcing and timeline management.

Technical & Professional Requirements

Experience: Minimum of 8 years of professional experience working in fast-paced post-production environments.

Software Expertise: Expert-level proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro and Media Encoder.

Motion Graphics Skills: Advanced proficiency in Adobe After Effects, including the independent design and animation of titles, lower thirds, and custom graphics.

Color Grading: Proficient in color correction and basic grading (balancing footage, matching shots, and establishing a cohesive visual aesthetic).

Audio Finishing: Strong audio mixing skills, including balancing dialogue, music, and sound effects.

Technical Knowledge: Deep working knowledge of cameras, codecs, frame rates, file formats, and platform-specific delivery specifications.

Problem Solving: Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot technical and editorial issues and implement effective solutions.

Quality Control: Exceptionally strong attention to detail with consistently high standards for visual and narrative quality.

Creative Execution: Ability to interpret abstract creative direction, shape compelling stories, and execute polished final cuts.

Organization: Proven ability to stay highly organized across complex timelines, assets, and project versions while multitasking.

Adaptability: Ability to operate effectively in fast-paced, ambiguous environments alongside distributed teams.

Application Requirements

️ Please Note: Applications missing either of the following components will not be considered.

Demo Reel: A reel showcasing your strongest independently completed work. We want to see how you think, how you cut, and how you bring a story to life (professional or personal projects are welcome).

Portfolio/Website: A comprehensive portfolio that takes us beyond the reel. Please include clear credits detailing your specific role/contribution for each project shown.
