Job Summary
seeking an experienced Network Engineer 3 (NE3) to support a statewide initiative focused on upgrading and replacing network infrastructure equipment used for Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS).
The selected candidate will work with network hardware deployed in field cabinets located along state highways and will be responsible for network installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and infrastructure support across diverse environments.
This is a fully onsite role requiring fieldwork, hands-on networking expertise, and the ability to work in outdoor and potentially adverse weather conditions.
Key Responsibilities
Install, maintain, configure, upgrade, and administer network hardware/software environments
Support network administration, server connectivity, telecommunications, and infrastructure operations
Install and troubleshoot:
Routers
Ethernet Switches
Wireless Bridges
Access Points
Firewalls
Intrusion Detection Systems
Monitoring Devices
Network Interface Cards (NICs)
Configure and support complex LAN/WAN network environments
Test hardware, networking software, and operating systems before deployment or upgrades
Perform network configuration changes and infrastructure improvements
Support enterprise network environments and ITS field cabinet systems
Create and maintain technical documentation
Work closely with Network Architects and infrastructure teams to ensure standards compliance
Act as escalation point for high-priority network support issues
Support field operations along highways and transportation infrastructure environments Required Skills
5+ years of experience with:
Network Applications

Strong understanding of:

Hands-on experience configuring and troubleshooting network hardware

Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Certification
4-year degree OR equivalent technical study OR relevant networking experience Highly Desired Skills
