Role Overview
Our client is seeking an Engineering Maintenance Manager to lead both the process engineering and maintenance functions within its Columbus manufacturing facility. This role will oversee the performance, reliability, and continuous improvement of plant equipment while leading engineering initiatives, capital projects, and maintenance strategy.
This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for ensuring plant equipment operates safely and efficiently while also supporting future production growth and new product launches.
Leadership Scope
This position oversees both engineering and maintenance teams.
Direct leadership includes:
Engineering Team
• ~7 engineers
Maintenance Team
• ~13 maintenance technicians
• Coverage across three production shifts
This person will act as the central leader responsible for reliability, equipment performance, and engineering execution across the plant.
Core Focus Areas of the Role
1. Equipment Reliability & Preventative Maintenance
A major focus of the role will be developing and executing a predictive / preventative maintenance strategy to maximize equipment uptime and reduce unexpected failures.
Responsibilities include:
Ensuring equipment operates at optimal safety and performance standards
Achieving plant equipment uptime targets
Managing maintenance documentation and standards
Implementing maintenance best practices and reliability strategies
Supporting plant KPI performance through equipment reliability
The company is particularly interested in candidates who understand modern reliability practices such as:
Mean Time to Repair (MTTR)
Mean Time to Failure (MTTF)
Predictive maintenance programs
Maintenance software / CMMS systems
Equipment monitoring technologies (vibration analysis, infrared thermography, etc.)
2. Capital Planning & Budget Management
The second major component of this role is financial and capital planning.
Responsibilities include:
Defining plant capital needs
Building and managing the maintenance and engineering budget
Evaluating equipment investments
Managing project costs and vendor spend
Ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget
This person will help determine where to spend capital to improve plant reliability and production output.
Engineering & Project Leadership
The Engineering Maintenance Manager will also lead engineering efforts tied to new product development and equipment installation.
Key responsibilities include:
Planning and supervising new equipment installations
Leading plant improvement and engineering projects
Managing external vendors and contractors
Supporting future production launches
One major upcoming initiative includes a significant Ford program scheduled for 2028, which will require engineering planning and equipment readiness in the coming years.
Safety & Operational Leadership
This role plays an important leadership role in maintaining a safe production environment.
Responsibilities include:
Ensuring all team members follow safety procedures and protocols
Ensuring safety-related corrective actions are completed on time
Supporting EHS, Quality, and Lean Manufacturing systems
Managing team performance and development
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering (preferred)
5–7+ years of relevant experience in:
Manufacturing engineering
Equipment installation and modification
Project management
Maintenance leadership
Strong understanding of:
Manufacturing equipment and systems
Lean manufacturing
EHS and quality standards
Reliability and maintenance practices
Compensation
Base Salary: $120,000+ based on experience
Bonus: 10% performance bonus
