IT Operations Engineer/System Administrator

Scion Technology has been engaged to conduct a search for an experienced IT Operations Engineer/System Administrator for our client, the leading manufacturer of strength and conditioning equipment in Columbus, OH! This is a full-time, direct hire position based onsite in Columbus.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Maintain and optimize the technology infrastructure powering a bustling manufacturing and warehouse operation. This hands-on, field-oriented role combines system administration with network support, ensuring seamless operations across the facility. Work closely with operational technology and infrastructure, supporting critical systems, including servers, networking devices, firewalls, and operational technology like IP cameras and warehouse equipment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Network Infrastructure: Maintain and troubleshoot core network components including switches, VLANs, cabling, wireless access points, and device connectivity.

Security & Firewall Support: Manage and support firewalls (Palo Alto), remote access solutions, and network security protocols.

Hardware & Equipment: Support production-facing devices such as printers, handheld barcode scanners, workstations, and industrial controllers.

Physical Infrastructure: Perform cable tracing, hardware replacements, and assist with move/add/change (MAC) projects within the facility.

Server & Desktop Support: Support Microsoft Windows desktops and servers, ensuring optimal connectivity and performance.

Operational Monitoring: Assist with remote management tools, endpoint visibility, and infrastructure health monitoring.

QUALIFICATIONS

Certifications/ Education: Associates degree or advanced certifications required; Bachelor's degree preferred.

Experience: 4+ years in systems administration, network support, or related infrastructure roles, preferably in manufacturing or warehouse settings.

Technical Expertise:

Strong understanding of switching, DNS, DHCP, wireless networking, and physical network troubleshooting.

Hands-on experience with firewalls (e.g., Palo Alto).

Familiarity with remote management tools and endpoint infrastructure.

Optional but beneficial: VMware, Google Workspace, Linux, macOS, Android/iOS, and IP camera/access control systems.

Physical & Mechanical Skills: Comfortable working in active environments, handling hardware, cabling, and physical troubleshooting.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

This full-time position offers an annual base salary range of $100-130k, commensurate with experience. The organization provides a robust benefits package that includes comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage in addition to paid time off.
