Position Overview

We are seeking a spiritually mature and experienced Small Group Pastor with a clear calling to pastoral ministry to lead and develop our small group (cell/fellowship) system.

This role is central to the church’s discipleship and pastoral care structure, ensuring that members are connected, spiritually nurtured, and actively growing in their faith journey.

The position is classified as a Minister of Religion role and involves core spiritual responsibilities including prayer leadership, Bible teaching, discipleship, and pastoral oversight.

Key Responsibilities

Provide overall leadership, direction, and oversight of the church’s small group (cell) ministry

Develop and implement effective discipleship, member integration, and spiritual growth strategies

Lead and coordinate prayer meetings, fellowship gatherings, and discipleship sessions

Teach and communicate the Word of God in small groups, leadership trainings, and discipleship programmes while maintaining sound biblical doctrine

Recruit, train, mentor, and support small group leaders for effective ministry impact

Provide pastoral care, spiritual guidance, counselling, and mentorship to leaders and members

Ensure proper follow-up, assimilation, and integration of new members into small groups

Monitor the spiritual health, engagement, and growth of all small groups

Organise leadership development trainings, Bible teaching classes, and discipleship programmes

Work closely with the pastoral and administrative leadership teams to align small group activities with the church’s overall vision and mission

Support church-wide services, prayer programmes, outreach initiatives, and ministry activities

Qualifications & Requirements

A committed Christian with a clear calling to pastoral and teaching ministry

Demonstrated experience in small group leadership, discipleship, or pastoral ministry

Strong ability in prayer leadership, Bible teaching, and spiritual mentoring

Sound knowledge of biblical doctrine and practical Christian living

Proven ability to provide pastoral leadership, guidance, and spiritual oversight

Leadership experience within a church or ministry environment

Strong organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Ability to develop, structure, and manage discipleship systems effectively

Completion of RCCG Workers in Training programme and/or RCCG School of Discipleship (or equivalent RCCG-recognised training) is highly desirable
