We are looking for a motivated Building Automation Systems (BAS) Engineer to join our client's growing team in Ashburn, VA. This position is ideal for an engineer with approximately 2 years of experience in HVAC controls or building automation who is eager to grow their technical skills and work on exciting commercial and mission-critical projects.
The BAS Engineer will support the design, programming, commissioning, and troubleshooting of building automation systems while collaborating with project managers, senior engineers, and field technicians.
Key Responsibilities
Assist with the design and implementation of BAS and HVAC controls systems
Develop control drawings, points lists, and project documentation
Support BAS programming, graphics creation, and system integration
Participate in startup, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities
Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and internal teams during project execution
Review project plans and specifications to ensure system compliance
Help maintain project schedules, documentation, and customer communication
Provide technical support to field technicians and customers as needed
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or technical training in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, HVAC, Controls, or related field preferred
Approximately 2 years of experience in Building Automation Systems, HVAC controls, or related industry
Basic understanding of HVAC systems and automatic controls
Familiarity with BAS platforms such as Siemens, Johnson Controls, Schneider Electric, Honeywell, Trane, or Niagara-based systems
Knowledge of BACnet or other building systems communication protocols is a plus
Ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Good communication and organizational abilities
Willingness to learn and grow within the BAS industry
