Pool Interpreter
A Pool Interpreter works as needed to provide interpreting services for students who are d/Deaf or hard of hearing to ensure appropriate accommodations in academic settings, meetings with faculty and staff, and for campus events. May work evening and weekend hours in person at the various Columbus State Campuses and Regional Learning Centers and/or virtually contingent upon student need and course modality.
Essential Job Functions
Interprets for students, faculty, and staff who are d/Deaf or hard of hearing using American Sign Language and Signed English. Interprets for non-signing hearing students and faculty using spoken English.
Prepares for classroom interpretation by reviewing textbooks, assignments, videos and other related material.
Provides explanation of roles of interpreter and consumers to inexperienced users. Provides functional guidance to practicum students as they prepare to graduate from the College's interpreting education program
Maintains confidentiality of student records and other confidential information.
Fosters and maintains a safe environment of respect and inclusion for faculty, staff, students, and members of the community.
Other duties as assigned.
*Regular, predictable, and punctual attendance is required.
Minimum Qualifications
Must have a minimum of an Associate Degree in Interpreting/Transliterating. One (1) year closely related experience. Proficiency in computer skills to interpret virtual classes, assignments.
Ability to work towards National Certification.
State Motor Vehicle Operator's License or demonstrable ability to gain access to work site(s).

Compensation: $24.86-$32
