Job Summary
EP Breaux Utility Services is seeking an experienced and safety-driven Utility Substation Foreman to lead crews in the construction, maintenance, and upgrade of high-voltage substation projects. The Foreman will supervise and coordinate field activities, ensure compliance with safety and quality standards, and act as the on-site lead for project execution. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, in-depth knowledge of substation operations, and a commitment to delivering high-quality work in a timely and cost-effective manner.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise, schedule, and direct crew members on utility substation construction and maintenance projects
Read and interpret blueprints, one-line drawings, and technical specifications
Ensure compliance with company safety policies, OSHA standards, and all local, state, and federal regulations
Coordinate and communicate with project managers, engineers, inspectors, and utility representatives
Manage daily project logs, timesheets, and material tracking reports
Ensure proper use and maintenance of tools, equipment, and vehicles
Train and mentor crew members on safe work practices and technical procedures
Identify and resolve field issues, delays, and unforeseen conditions
Ensure work is completed on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards
Participate in job site safety meetings and audits
Requirements
High school diploma or GED required; technical certifications a plus
At least 5 years of experience running electrical substation projects
Experience leading both small crews (4–7 people) and large crews (15–20 people) on substation projects
Strong ability to interpret and understand substation drawing packages
Experience overseeing substation concrete foundation installation
Experience with below-grade grounding and conduit installation and required equipment
Experience with substation steel erection and the equipment required
Experience with above-grade conduit and grounding installation
Experience with power and control cable installation and termination
Experience with material ordering and material management
Experience assisting with substation testing and commissioning processes
Physical Requirements
Ability to work in an outdoor field environment with exposure to weather, construction equipment, and high-voltage areas
Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work at heights
Comfortable working in confined spaces and open trenches
Must be able to climb poles, ladders, and work from aerial equipment
Ability to stand, kneel, and work in physically demanding environments for extended periods
