A global technology and infrastructure company is seeking an Intellectual Property Counsel to join its growing legal team. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with business leadership and cross-functional teams on a broad range of patent, trademark, licensing, and IP strategy matters across an international portfolio.
This role is ideal for an attorney with a combination of patent prosecution, IP counseling, and strategic enforcement experience who is looking to move into a highly visible in-house position with direct business impact.
Key Responsibilities:
Support the management and strategic development of the company’s global intellectual property portfolio, including patents, trademarks, trade secrets, and related assets.
Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of IP-related agreements, including licenses, settlements, technology agreements, and confidentiality agreements.
Assist with patent enforcement initiatives, infringement assessments, claim chart analysis, and competitive intelligence reviews.
Partner with internal business and engineering teams to identify and protect innovation opportunities aligned with business objectives.
Provide legal guidance related to IP risk assessment, clearance matters, and commercialization strategies.
Support domestic and international patent prosecution efforts in coordination with outside counsel.
Contribute to IP due diligence efforts associated with acquisitions, strategic partnerships, and commercial transactions.
Help develop and improve internal IP processes, portfolio management strategies, and operational efficiencies.
Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitor activity to support long-term IP strategy.
Qualifications:
J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar admission in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
Admission to practice before the USPTO required.
Undergraduate or advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline preferred.
Approximately 2+ years of intellectual property experience gained in-house or at a law firm.
Experience with patent prosecution, IP agreements, licensing, portfolio management, and/or enforcement strategy.
Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to work cross-functionally in a collaborative environment.
Experience supporting engineering, manufacturing, data center, power systems, cooling systems, or other technical industries is a plus.
