Job Description
The Pastry Chef will lead a small team of 1 to 3 members in creating high-quality pastries for specialty bakeries, cafés, and coffee shops. This role requires expertise in baking techniques and food safety, with opportunities to innovate and update seasonal menus using specialized baking equipment such as convection and steam ovens. The Pastry Chef ensures all products meet quality standards while maintaining excellent kitchen sanitation and compliance with food safety regulations.
Responsibilities
Develop and refine pastry recipes to maintain and enhance menu offerings
Oversee baking processes using convection ovens, combination steam ovens, and traditional ovens
Maintain strict quality control and food safety compliance throughout production
Ensure kitchen sanitation standards are consistently met
Supervise and mentor a small team of pastry staff (1-3 members)
Manage inventory related to pastry baking supplies and ingredients
Contribute to menu innovation with occasional new items and seasonal updates
Required Qualifications
Valid Food Handler Certification
Preferred Qualifications
Entry-level experience in pastry baking
Familiarity with pastry techniques and baking science
Knowledge of food safety standards and best practices
Experience with inventory management
Creativity and attention to detail in pastry presentation
Strong time management and team leadership skills
