The Quality Engineer manages day-to-day quality concerns on second shift, supports final assembly operations, and ensures products consistently meet stringent quality standards while collaborating closely with production supervisors, technicians, and inspectors.
Responsibilities
Serve as the front-line liaison to production supervisors and staff, leading troubleshooting efforts, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective actions for quality issues affecting production.
Provide immediate problem-solving support on the line, including rapid response (within minutes) to line-down situations related to torque failures, paint issues, and other assembly defects.
Assist in planning quality control engineering assignments and coordinate tasks for technicians, inspectors, and associate-level engineers assigned to projects.
Schedule and prioritize work to meet completion dates, production targets, and technical specifications for quality-related activities.
Ensure all outside vendors and internal departments meet established quality standards and requirements.
Coordinate quality aspects of new product development, including on-site start-ups, tooling qualifications, and vendor certifications.
Design or specify inspection and testing mechanisms, tools, and equipment to support production and quality requirements.
Establish, document, and maintain critical product features and related process control information.
Develop and maintain inspection criteria and quality checks for critical product features in final assembly and related operations.
Analyze production limitations, capability, and standards, and recommend revisions to specifications when needed to improve quality and manufacturability.
Assist in the formulation, documentation, and continuous improvement of quality control policies and procedures.
Evaluate the progress and results of quality initiatives and recommend changes in procedures, processes, or objectives to enhance performance.
Develop and implement quality control training and mentoring programs for technicians and other quality personnel.
Operate within an approved budget while managing quality-related activities and resources.
Work in a safe and healthy manner at all times, strictly following all safety rules and regulations.
Maintain a neat, clean, and orderly 5S work area to support efficiency and safety.
Support production of approximately 300–700 products per month by ensuring robust quality processes and rapid issue resolution.
Collaborate closely with second shift production and backshop quality engineering teams, escalating issues and coordinating with on-call support when necessary.
Perform other related duties as assigned to support overall quality and production objectives.

Comfort acting as a go-getter and hands-on problem solver in a dynamic production environment.
Exposure to making 300–700 products per month or similar production volumes.
Familiarity with 5S practices and continuous improvement culture.
Experience mentoring and training technicians and junior quality staff.
Work Environment
The role operates in a fast-paced manufacturing environment focused on final assembly and backshop operations, with production volumes of approximately 300–700 products per month. The position primarily supports second shift, working closely with production supervisors and a team of approximately 10–15 people. The Quality Engineer responds quickly to line issues such as torque failures and paint defects, often in real time on the shop floor. The environment emphasizes safety, adherence to established safety rules and regulations, and maintaining a clean, organized 5S work area.
