Position Overview
The Housing Counselor supports individuals and families in securing and maintaining stable housing through case management, housing navigation, and landlord engagement.

Mercy House is a faith-based organization whose mission is to feed, clothe, and house homeless families with dependent children in Harrisonburg, Virginia, in a safe community while assisting them with services that will allow them to overcome the barriers that have led to their situation.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct client intakes, assessments, and housing plans
Assist with housing searches and connect clients to resources
Build landlord relationships and mediate tenant issues
Coordinate rental and utility assistance
Maintain accurate documentation and HMIS data
Ensure compliance with program and housing regulations
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience
2+ years in housing, case management, or human services
Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office and data systems
Bilingual preferred
Starting Salary - $43,000-$48,000
