Academic Support Learning Specialist
Job DescriptionRole Summary
The Academic Support Learning Specialist works directly with students who have documented learning differences and receive services through the Academic Support Program. This role includes planning individualized instructional sessions, maintaining ongoing communication with teachers and families, and staying current on research-based learning strategies. The Learning Specialist also supports broader school understanding of learning differences when needed. This position reports to the Academic Support Program Coordinator.Required Qualifications
Minimum of three years of classroom teaching experience
Experience working with students individually or in small groups
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skillsPreferred Qualifications
Experience supporting students with learning challenges
Master’s degree in an education-related field (ideally Special Education)
Familiarity with student data analysisKey Responsibilities
Provide individualized intervention for up to 11 students across any grade level at St. David’s, meeting with each student twice per week
Develop an annual Program Plan outlining each student’s goals and objectives, and provide a copy to parents
Prepare and send detailed progress reports at the end of each trimester, addressing all goals and objectives in the Program Plan
Maintain regular communication with parents of students in the program, contacting them at least twice per month by email or phone
Coordinate parent–teacher meetings as needed for students experiencing academic challenges
Monitor online academic information and grade-level calendars to stay informed about upcoming assignments and expectations
Full-time
