An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Sous Chef / Senior Sous Chef to join a long-established 2 AA Rosette country house hotel in the heart of the Lake District.
This is a genuinely strong kitchen team led by a long-standing Head Chef with over 17 years at the property, operating with consistency, stability, and a clear focus on quality seasonal food rather than overly complicated, trend-driven cooking.
The hotel has expanded significantly in recent years and now operates with over 40 bedrooms alongside a busy, well-respected restaurant serving refined modern British menus using fresh, seasonal produce.

The Role
This position has been newly created to strengthen the senior kitchen structure and support the existing leadership team as the business continues to grow.
You will work closely with the Head Chef and existing Sous Chef, helping oversee day-to-day kitchen operations while maintaining standards across all sections.
You will:
Support the Head Chef in leading the brigade during prep and service
Help maintain consistency across all areas of the kitchen
Assist with menu development and seasonal changes
Train, mentor, and support junior chefs
Help manage ordering, stock control, and kitchen organisation
Contribute ideas and have genuine creative input within the menu structure
Maintain a calm, organised presence during busy services

The Ideal Candidate
Current Sous Chef, Senior Sous Chef, or strong Junior Sous ready to step up
Strong fresh-food background with Rosette experience preferred
Solid cooking foundations and strong organisational skills
Calm, mature approach to service and team management
Passion for quality seasonal produce and modern British cooking
